iDVD Down and Dirty

There are dozens of tutorials available on creating DVD’s.  In this case quick is a good thing.  You don’t have to be a genius.  Just use the templates.  You can get creative later.

Edit your movie and export as a “full resolution” QuickTime movie.

Export it to your desktop so you can easily find it and name it as you would like it to appear on your DVD menu.  (You can change it later if you want to, but this just makes things a little easier at first.

Open IDVD

Select “Create a New Project.

Name it, select the appropriate aspect ratio, and save it to your desktop so you can find it easily.  (If you are using an HD camera the aspect ratio should be 16:9.)

Select “Create.”

Select a theme.

Drag your video or a representative photo into each drop zone.

Highlight the title and change it to your title.

Drag your QuickTime video  into the open space on the menu page.

Insert a blank DVD in your burner.

Double click the icon that looks like a camera iris.  (If you hover your mouse over the icon, it will say, “Burn this IDVD project to disk.)

Then wait until it is finished and check your product to make sure it plays in another computer or DVD player.
